About Painted Myths

Painted Myths is a gallery of finished paintings of the world’s myths: 40 subjects and 611 compositions, drawn from Olympus, Asgard, The Nile, The Vedas, The Otherworld, The Floating World, The Sun Kingdoms, The River Crown. Nothing here asks for a photograph. You choose a myth, choose what it is printed on, and hang it.

A gallery that paints every pantheon in one house style flattens the stories into one story. Here each myth is painted first as an old-master oil and then in the hand its own people told it in: Attic Red-Figure, Saga Woodcut, Tomb-Wall Painting, Tanjore Gold, Illuminated Manuscript, Ukiyo-e Woodblock, Codex Painting, Indigo & Beadwork, Palace Relief. The Floating World gets woodblock cloud; the Vedas get Tanjore gold. That rule decides the catalogue, and it is the one thing on this site a competitor would have to rebuild from nothing to copy.

The paintings are made with AI image models, directed, rejected and chosen by the people who run the house. We would rather say that than let a buyer guess. The painters these pieces bow to, Botticelli and Caravaggio among them, did something this medium may never do, and we would rather admit it than pretend otherwise.

Prints and canvas are made to order by Prodigi, apparel by Printful, and the files are enlarged to print resolution before either sees them. The paper is named on every product page, and it is the paper we order.
